Gemini enables XRP transfers via XRPL in Singapore

Gemini enabled XRP deposits and withdrawals through the XRP Ledger for customers in Singapore on Aug. 25, expanding its local support beyond buying, selling and storing the token.

    Summary

    • Gemini users in Singapore can now deposit and withdraw XRP through the XRP Ledger network.
    • The rollout adds blockchain transfers beyond trading and custody access already offered to Singapore customers.
    • Gemini holds in-principle regulatory approval for a Major Payment Institution license application in Singapore.
    • XRP joined Gemini’s derivatives cross-collateral pool alongside Bitcoin, Ether, Tether and Gemini Dollar during July.
    • Gemini previously enabled RLUSD deposits and withdrawals over XRPL, expanding its Ripple-related product support further.

Gemini co-founder and CEO Tyler Winklevoss announced the rollout in an X post. Eligible users can now transfer XRP between Gemini accounts and external XRPL addresses instead of relying only on transactions within the exchange.

Big news for the Ripple Army in Asia. @Gemini users in Singapore 🇸🇬 can now deposit and withdraw XRP over the XRPL network.

Gemini adds native XRP transfers in Singapore

The new functionality allows users to deposit XRP from self-custody wallets or other supported platforms. They can also withdraw tokens from Gemini directly to compatible addresses on the XRP Ledger.

Gemini did not announce new XRP trading pairs, fee changes or minimum transfer amounts alongside the rollout. Customers should verify the destination network, address and any required destination tag before submitting transfers. Sending XRP through an unsupported network could result in lost funds.

The exchange already allows Singapore customers to fund accounts in Singapore dollars and access more than 70 cryptocurrencies. Adding withdrawals makes XRP transferable outside Gemini’s custody infrastructure.

The company’s status page showed that a previous XRPL transfer interruption had been resolved. No new outage affecting the Singapore launch was listed when checked.

Singapore remains one of Gemini’s core markets

Gemini Digital Payments Singapore received in-principle approval from the Monetary Authority of Singapore for a Major Payment Institution license in October 2024. In-principle approval is not the same as receiving the final license.

Gemini continues working with the regulator on its application, according to the exchange’s Singapore information. A final approval date has not been announced.

The company consolidated its international operations around the U.S. and Singapore earlier in 2026 while exiting the United Kingdom, European Union and Australia. The restructuring included plans to reduce its global workforce by as many as 200 positions.

That strategy makes the Singapore XRP expansion more relevant than a routine network addition. It supports one of the two markets Gemini selected for its continuing operations.

Singapore has separately allowed Ripple to expand regulated payment activities. The Monetary Authority of Singapore previously approved broader payment services under Ripple’s license, strengthening the company’s institutional presence in the country.

Gemini has expanded several XRP-related products

Gemini added XRP to its derivatives cross-collateral system in July. Eligible derivatives customers can use the token alongside Bitcoin, Ether, Tether and Gemini Dollar to support trading positions.

Cross-collateral support does not increase the amount of XRP held by Gemini customers automatically. It gives qualifying users another asset that can contribute toward margin requirements while exposing them to liquidation risk.

Gemini and Ripple previously launched an XRP edition of the Gemini Credit Card for eligible U.S. customers. The card offers up to 4% back in XRP on qualifying fuel, electric vehicle charging and rideshare purchases.

Gemini said users who earned XRP rewards between October 2021 and July 2024 and held them through July 2025 recorded a 453% increase in their rewards’ value. The calculation applies only to that historical group and does not predict future returns.

XRPL support also extends to Ripple’s stablecoin

Gemini enabled deposits and withdrawals of Ripple USD through XRPL in December 2025. RLUSD is Ripple’s dollar-backed stablecoin and operates on both XRPL and Ethereum.

Ripple, Mastercard, WebBank and Gemini have also been testing RLUSD for Gemini Credit Card settlement. The project is designed to assess whether a regulated stablecoin can support settlement between a card network and issuing bank on a public blockchain, as previously reported.

The Singapore rollout concerns XRP transfers and does not indicate a new RLUSD settlement launch. Gemini also did not publish user adoption targets or an expansion schedule for other Asian markets.

No distinct XRP price movement could be reliably attributed to the announcement. The next measurable development will be whether Gemini reports higher XRP deposits, withdrawals or trading activity in Singapore following the integration.
