LayerZero sets Nov. 30 launch for Zero mainnet and ATLAS trading

LayerZero has set Nov. 30 for the launch of its Zero mainnet and ATLAS trading infrastructure, with Open ATLAS expected to support more than a dozen trading venues at debut.

    Summary

    • LayerZero has scheduled Zero mainnet and ATLAS for Nov. 30, with more than a dozen trading venues expected.
    • ATLAS will handle trading and settlement behind third-party platforms, without its own consumer app.
    • Open ATLAS plans to use 75% of fees remaining after venue rebates to buy and burn ZRO.
    • LayerZero plans initial ATLAS capacity of 200,000 transactions per second.

LayerZero announced that ATLAS will be the first application on Zero, starting with Open ATLAS and more than a dozen trading venues at launch, with more expected before year-end.

LayerZero ATLAS is the first application launching on Zero. This starts with Open ATLAS, which will support over a dozen trading venues at launch, with more to follow this year.

The schedule follows the project’s August ATLAS introduction, when LayerZero described a backend that would combine order matching, clearing, settlement and risk management. As crypto.news previously reported, the company initially gave a launch window of later this year.

On Oct. 6, reporting on existing ZRO buybacks still described ATLAS’s timetable as “coming later this year,” separating the company’s published schedule from an analyst’s expectation of a launch within weeks.

LayerZero ATLAS will run behind trading venues

LayerZero’s product documentation describes ATLAS as a “headless exchange,” meaning it has no consumer application or trading interface of its own. Customers will access the system through third-party venues, which manage their users, distribution, and interfaces.

In the company’s design, three groups perform separate jobs. Trading venues provide access to markets, market creators define the products available to trade, and market makers supply liquidity. The listed product categories include spot assets, perpetual contracts, stocks, commodities, bonds, and prediction markets.

Open ATLAS is intended for crypto-native applications and teams building open financial products, according to the August announcement. Operators can connect an interface, select existing markets or create their own, and use the underlying trading engine without developing the full exchange infrastructure themselves.

Institutional ATLAS uses the same engine, with institutions choosing the rules applied to their markets, the company says. Its documentation describes the two configurations separately; the reported November rollout starts with Open ATLAS.

During the August unveiling, CEO Bryan Pellegrino described ATLAS as infrastructure for a growing set of continuously traded assets.

“We built ATLAS to be the neutral, performant backend to power them all.”

ZRO rebates and burns depend on trading fees

The planned token model assigns ZRO functions across the network and its trading system. According to LayerZero, ZRO will secure Zero, pay network gas fees, and give trading venues access to higher ATLAS rebates through staking.

For Open ATLAS, the company has announced a single trading fee, with venues receiving rebates ranging from 20% to 65%, based on their ZRO stake, trading volume or both. The remaining fees are then divided between market creators and token purchases.

LayerZero allocates 25% of that remaining amount to market creators and 75% to buying and burning ZRO. The burn allocation therefore applies after the venue’s rebate has been deducted.

Using those published percentages, a hypothetical $100 in trading fees would leave $80 after a 20% venue rebate, allocating $60 to ZRO purchases and $20 to the market creator. With a 65% rebate, $35 would remain, split into $26.25 for token purchases and $8.75 for the creator.

Those examples calculate the announced fee split; they do not represent actual ATLAS revenue or a forecast of token purchases.

Separate from ATLAS, LayerZero has already used Stargate revenue for ZRO buybacks. Its June token update said all Stargate revenue had funded purchases since April 2026, a policy covered in the October reporting on its existing token programs.

Zero separates execution from transaction verification

In its February technical introduction, LayerZero described Zero as a blockchain that separates transaction execution from verification through zero-knowledge proofs. Block producers perform the computational work, while block validators check proofs of that work.

The design divides activity into concurrent environments called Zones. LayerZero’s ATLAS documentation says the trading engine will operate in its own Zone, keeping its workload separate from payments and general-purpose applications.

LayerZero’s technical paper describes a roadmap of 2 million transactions per second per Zone. The company’s ATLAS FAQ gives a smaller initial provisioning figure of 200,000 transactions per second for the trading system.

For latency, the same FAQ lists a median below one millisecond, with 1.418 milliseconds at the 95th percentile and 2.641 milliseconds at the 99th percentile in a public-deployment environment. Those figures are company-reported performance measurements, not independently established results from the November mainnet.

Stablecoin distribution has brought a separate bank integration

LayerZero’s existing cross-chain business includes an Anchorage Digital partnership announced in September. Anchorage selected the company to connect stablecoins issued through Anchorage Digital Bank across blockchain networks, as covered in the October reporting on its bank stablecoin integration.

Anchorage’s announcement identifies LayerZero’s Omnichain Fungible Token standard as the mechanism for moving those assets between chains. The bank named Tether’s USAT as the first stablecoin issued through its platform to launch with that interoperability.

In the same announcement, Anchorage said stablecoins issued through its bank would be designed to move across Ethereum, other Ethereum-compatible networks and Solana.

Anchorage said its issuance platform serves institutions including Tether, Western Union, OSL Group and Falcon Finance.
