Fhenix brings encrypted smart contract computation to Ethereum, Arbitrum mainnets

Fhenix has moved its confidential computing technology into production on Ethereum and Arbitrum, allowing smart contracts to process encrypted information without directly exposing the underlying data.

The company announced the mainnet launch on Oct. 21, 2026, alongside the production release of CoFHE, its fully homomorphic encryption (FHE) coprocessor. The infrastructure is designed to let decentralized applications execute operations involving sensitive information while preserving the confidentiality of balances, positions and trading strategies.

The launch addresses a longstanding challenge for blockchain applications: public networks make transactions and contract activity broadly observable, which can complicate their use for financial services that depend on private information.

Fhenix is positioning the technology as infrastructure for confidential decentralized finance and tokenization, with the company identifying a potential $1.5 trillion tokenization opportunity currently constrained by privacy limitations.

    How CoFHE processes encrypted data

CoFHE performs computationally intensive encrypted operations offchain before returning results to smart contracts on Ethereum and Arbitrum. According to Fhenix, its dynamic throughput adjusts to demand instead of restricting applications to a predetermined processing rate.

The company is also seeking to simplify implementation for developers. Its approach uses a Solidity import and encrypted data types intended to function similarly to ordinary variables, allowing builders to incorporate confidentiality into existing smart contract development workflows.

Another component of the launch is Fhenix’s dual-mode token architecture. It allows token holders to switch balances between public and confidential modes in a single transaction, without wrapping the asset or transferring it through a bridge.

Because the token remains on its original blockchain, Fhenix says the approach is designed to retain compatibility with existing wallets, exchanges and decentralized finance protocols.

“When I started Fhenix three years ago, I couldn’t have imagined how far it would take us,” said Guy Zyskind, the company’s founder. “CoFHE is now live on Ethereum and Arbitrum mainnet, with competitive performance and a UX that’s simple for any builder who wants privacy in their dApp.”

Zyskind also said Fhenix is working with Tandem on a confidential stablecoin, although the announcement did not provide further details about its development or release timeline.

Fluton and Alpha Engine debut as design partners

The mainnet launch includes two initial design partners whose applications illustrate different uses for confidential computation.

Fluton is building a confidentiality engine for interactions across blockchains, applications and assets, using encrypted intents. Alpha Engine is developing a confidential network for onchain finance where strategists can submit encrypted strategies and compete for liquidity without disclosing their trading approaches.

Fhenix said both projects completed technical and security reviews before going live.

The system was also audited by Consensys Diligence ahead of launch. Comments included in the announcement highlighted the additional security considerations involved in assessing systems where smart contracts operate on information they cannot directly read. However, the supplied material did not identify the Consensys Diligence representative by name or title.

Institutional adoption remains a key objective

The launch comes as Fhenix seeks to make public blockchain infrastructure more suitable for applications that require financial confidentiality.

Steven Goldfeder, co-founder and CEO of Offchain, said institutions have historically faced a trade-off between protecting sensitive financial information and accessing the composability of public blockchain markets.

“Confidentiality is one of the biggest barriers between institutions and public blockchains,” Goldfeder said. “They need to keep positions and strategies private, and until now that meant giving up the composability that makes onchain markets worth using.”

He added that the launch on Arbitrum gives developers a way to pursue both confidentiality and composability within the ecosystem.

Fhenix plans to expand the network’s application base in the coming months. Three more decentralized applications are scheduled to launch on CoFHE during the fourth quarter of 2026, while the company expects to announce two institutional partnerships in the coming weeks.

The team is also participating in the Colosseum hackathon to assess demand for confidential applications on Solana, potentially extending its exploration of encrypted computation beyond Ethereum-compatible networks.
