BitGo adds 3 regulated European stablecoins

BitGo Europe and German stablecoin issuer AllUnity announced on Aug. 17 that they had formed a partnership covering three regulated, fiat-backed stablecoins.

    Summary

    • BitGo Europe became a first buyer and institutional liquidity partner for three AllUnity stablecoins tokens.
    • Eligible institutional clients can access EURAU, CHFAU and SEKAU through BitGo Europe’s regulated platform directly.
    • BitGo Europe receives direct minting and redemption access through AllUnity’s Business Mint Account infrastructure service.
    • AllUnity issues the tokens as MiCA e-money tokens backed one-to-one by corresponding fiat currency reserves.
    • Retail customers are excluded because AllUnity’s services and communication remain directed exclusively toward business clients.

The agreement names BitGo Europe as a first buyer and institutional liquidity partner for EURAU, CHFAU and SEKAU. The tokens track the euro, Swiss franc and Swedish krona, respectively.

Eligible BitGo Europe clients will receive access to the tokens through AllUnity’s Business Mint Account. The arrangement connects AllUnity’s issuance system with BitGo’s institutional custody, trading and over-the-counter infrastructure.

BitGo gains direct minting and redemption access

BitGo Europe will be able to mint and redeem the three stablecoins directly with AllUnity, according to the companies’ joint announcement.

That access should allow BitGo to source tokens when institutional clients need liquidity and redeem them for fiat. The companies said the integration could support settlement, treasury management and digital asset trading.

AllUnity described the service as providing “real-time liquidity.” However, it did not publish settlement times, minimum transaction sizes, fees or daily minting limits.

The partnership also did not disclose how much capital BitGo committed as a first buyer. Neither company provided a volume target or identified institutions that had already used the new service.

Three tokens support separate European currencies

EURAU is a euro-denominated token launched in July 2025. AllUnity says it holds euro reserves using a multi-bank structure and allows eligible holders to redeem tokens at par value.

CHFAU tracks the Swiss franc and has expanded across several public blockchains. AllUnity reported in August that the token had reached nearly 50 million Swiss francs in total value locked following its deployment on Solana.

SEKAU is backed by Swedish krona reserves. As crypto.news previously reported, its regulated launch covered five blockchain networks, including Ethereum, Solana, Base, Tempo and Polygon.

AllUnity says each token is backed one-to-one by reserves denominated in its corresponding currency. The company has published separate MiCA white papers covering redemption rights, reserve arrangements and token risks.

MiCA rules define who can access the service

AllUnity received an electronic money institution license from Germany’s Federal Financial Supervisory Authority in July 2025. The license allows it to issue e-money tokens under the European Union’s Markets in Crypto-Assets framework.

Under MiCA, holders have a statutory right to redeem e-money tokens at par value. AllUnity’s published terms state that redemption is available at any time, subject to account verification and other requirements.

The company’s service remains directed exclusively toward legal entities and business customers. Its website states that the offering is not addressed to individuals, retail customers or consumers.

BitGo Europe is registered in Germany as a crypto asset service provider under MiCA and is subject to German anti-money laundering requirements. As crypto.news reported in related coverage, the company has also introduced regulated infrastructure for European crypto businesses.

Client adoption is the next test

The companies said eligible BitGo clients can access the tokens through BitGo Europe’s platform. Institutions must still satisfy onboarding, jurisdiction and compliance requirements before minting or redeeming them.

BitGo and AllUnity have not published a phased rollout schedule because the service is presented as available now. They also did not identify the supported blockchain networks within BitGo’s interface.

No attributable market reaction followed the partnership announcement. Stablecoins target fixed exchange values, while BitGo and AllUnity did not disclose transaction volumes that could demonstrate an immediate liquidity change.

Future disclosures may show whether the arrangement increases circulation outside AllUnity’s existing platforms. Minting data, redemption volumes and active institutional accounts would provide clearer measures of adoption.

The partnership expands the range of regulated European currency tokens available through institutional custody infrastructure. Its commercial reach will depend on whether clients use them for recurring settlement and treasury activity rather than holding them as inactive balances.
