Stripe offers US stablecoin payouts to wallets in 160+ markets

Stripe has made stablecoin payouts to crypto wallets available to eligible U.S. businesses across more than 160 recipient markets, with New York companies excluded from the public preview.

    Summary

    • U.S. businesses can send USDC or OUSD directly to recipients’ external crypto wallets.
    • Nine networks support USDC payouts, while OUSD is available across four supported chains.
    • Stripe’s published stablecoin payout fee is $0.50 plus 0.5% of the transfer amount.
    • The company announced 160-market stablecoin payouts on Oct. 16, before the latest social media coverage.

According to Stripe’s documentation, businesses can fund the transfers from a USD or USDC balance in their financial account, with recipients receiving stablecoins through a supported blockchain.

Payments typically arrive within minutes, although network conditions can delay delivery. The service is listed as a public preview, and businesses based in New York can register to be notified when access becomes available.

Stripe announced 160-market payouts in October

The company had already described the international payout capability in an Oct. 16 announcement, written by Neetika Bansal, its business lead for Money as a Service.

At the time, Stripe said businesses could send instant stablecoin payouts to recipients in 160 markets and traditional currency payouts to more than 100 markets directly through its Dashboard.

The announcement described hosted forms and APIs for fintech companies that want to build payouts into their own products. Named uses included loan disbursements, remittances, investment withdrawals and neobank cash-outs.

Stripe’s current documentation provides the operational details, including supported tokens, networks, and the restriction on New York businesses.

The October announcement placed Global Payouts alongside Treasury and Issuing in a shared financial services offering. Stripe said the products can share customer verification information and work with Open Standard’s OUSD stablecoin and the Tempo blockchain.

USDC payouts support nine blockchain networks

The supported USDC networks are Arbitrum, Avalanche C-Chain, Base, Ethereum, Optimism, Polygon, Solana, Stellar and Tempo. OUSD payouts are available on Base, Ethereum, Solana and Tempo.

Before sending funds, Stripe instructs businesses to check that the recipient’s wallet supports both the selected stablecoin and the chosen network.

Through the Dashboard, a business adds a recipient and their wallet, selects the crypto payout method, enters the amount, and confirms the payment details before submitting it.

Stripe’s recipient requirements specify an email address, a name, and an address for stablecoin payouts. When the recipient is a business, the required name is the company name.

Both USDC and OUSD appear as crypto payout methods in public preview. The requirements identify supported recipient countries separately from the sender’s location: the sending business must be based in the United States, subject to the New York exclusion.

Companies in New York are directed to an access registration option. The documentation does not give a date for availability in the state.

Stripe’s fees depend on the size of the payout

Stripe’s published pricing lists stablecoin payouts at $0.50 per payment plus 0.5% of the amount sent. Its listed SWIFT wire transfer fee is $25.

Using those published charges, a $1,000 stablecoin payout would cost $5.50, compared with the listed $25 SWIFT fee. At $10,000, the stablecoin payout charge would be $50.50.

The two listed payout charges are equal at $4,900. Below that amount, the stablecoin charge is lower; above it, the percentage component takes the stablecoin fee past $25.

Those calculations cover the advertised payout charges before any applicable conversion or platform fees. Stripe lists currency conversion starting at 0.5% and a platform fee of 0.05% on monthly payout volume above a $1 million allowance across payment methods.

Stripe has introduced separate business transfer tools

The wallet payout option sits alongside other ways businesses can move money through Stripe.

As crypto.news previously reported, the company introduced free instant business transfers through Stripe Pay in October, using business profile handles to identify recipients. Both parties need qualifying financial accounts to use that service.

In its Oct. 16 product announcement, Stripe described another expansion involving stablecoin cards. The company said card issuing had reached 27 European Union countries, bringing availability to more than 65 countries worldwide.

Stripe said it planned to reach 100 countries by the end of 2026. Its stablecoin cards can draw on balances held in custodial wallets, noncustodial wallets, or Stripe financial accounts, with funds converted into local currency when a cardholder makes a purchase.
